Baby M is feeling much, much better.

Forgive me if the I mess up the exact days/times of events, as the week kinda blurred into one long event.
Since the last post, Baby M not only woke up, but has begun to smile, laugh, and play again. She also has had cause to cry a lot too, but it's just so good to hear her make noise again, it's all good sounds.
She took her time coming to after they stopped sedation, but the antibiotics have worked very well, combined with all the faith exercised for her benefit, and she has made a remarkable recovery. She is still very weak, but is getting stronger, and can sit up and play for short periods of time now, and is enjoying all the new toys she has.
The biggest trouble has been with her IV; After failing to get in a central line, they inserted a midline, which can sometimes be less reliable. Well, hers failed late Friday night, and they had to stick an IV in her ankle, after several failed attempts and hours of screaming to find an alternative in either arm. Since they needed to sedate her to try another PICC line, they waited until today (Monday) to do so. In the meantime, we had to switch her antibiotics back to a broad-spectrum type, as the penicillin (prescribed for her after the bacterium was identified late in the week) was causing her incredible pain.
At this point though, things are going well; She is nursing every 3 hours, and may be able to eat solid foods again soon, which she has been asking (signing) for. When she is awake, she is very alert, though still suffers from headaches, and muscle pain, especially in her neck, and she tires quickly.
Even though she had to revert to a less specific drug, she is still expected to be discharged at the end of the week, maybe Saturday. We are very excited, as at one point, they expected her to be here for up to a month, or more. There don't appear to be any residual side effects from the seizures, but she will have to stay on anti-convulsants for several months, and we will have to watch her for neurological changes.
The most difficult thing now is entertaining the little fireball in a hospital, but it's something we're glad to endure.
Thank you again for all your thought, prayers, phone calls and messages. Baby M and her parents will never forget it.
