Early morning thoughts on Motherhood . . .

After a crazy weekend of me working, Papa watching the girl, 5 hours of church, NO SLEEP . . . the place is naturally a wreck, with baby stuff strewn everywhere.
So this morning, I'm in a rush to make it not-so-very-late to an early morning appointment with Baby M's audiologist--waaaaay over theeereee.  I'm hurriedly pulling extraneous items out of the diaper bag and throwing them on the floor in the midst of all the other stuff already there, only to stuff more extraneous items back into the bag.  Papa, observing, has this to say:

"You're making a mess, you know."
Me:  I know.  I'll clean it up when I get home.
Papa:  But how will you know what's clean, and what's dirty?
Me:  I know.
Papa:  *skeptical look*
Me:  I'm a mom; of course I know.
Papa:  *bemused look*
Me:  See, that answer works for everything!

At the doctor's office, on the cover of Parenting magazine:
"7 Ways to Enjoy Your Baby's First Year"

Is having a baby and being a parent so bad that a magazine has to compile a VERY short list of ways and reasons to make it all worthwhile?

By the way, Little M's hearing aids should be ready in two weeks!!!
