All I Want for Christmas . . .

. . . are my TWO FRONT TEETH!

That's right!  Teefers!  She growed them all by herself!  And just in time for Christmas too!
I know this entry is a little late in coming to announce that (anyone who reads this blog already knows she's sporting chompers), but with the hustle and bustle and hohohos and all that . . .

But I have something I want to say on the matter.

While Papa and I are proud of ALL our little girl's magnificent accomplishments, this one made us a mite sad.  No longer will we be continuously flashed by this delightful, toothless, smile:

But it's more than that.  Those two mandibular manifestations are emblematic of an end to an era.  All other achievements were just more of a sameness: bigger and heavier, squirmier and louder, messier and stinkier . . .
But teeth, ah well.  That's just something there that wasn't before now.
There's a feeling that some of that baby innocence is gone.  There's a shift.  She's becoming more independent.  It's a signal of a step towards feeding herself, talking for herself, applying herself, providing for herself.  She can now take a bite out of life and eat it up, chew it up, spit it out, or do whatever she sees fit.  So we mournfully bid farewell to what is now the past, as we venture into this new phase.  Am I being a bit melodramatic?  Perhaps.  But to paraphrase a very wise elephant:
"A tooth is a tooth, no matter how small."  And those two little chiclets had a very BIG impact on us all!
